چکیده
COVER A circulator for sound. The arrows represent acoustic signals fl owing through the device (diameter: ~20 centimeters), which circulates sound in a nonreciprocal fashion: Signals can fl ow from left to top, from top to right, and from right to left, but not in the opposite directions. This creates one-way communication channels for sound, allowing listeners to hear but not be heard in return. See pages 495 and 516.

The Impact of Regulation on Innovation in the United States: A Cross-Industry Literature Review
The debate over the impact of government regulation on innovation in the United States is framed in the context of the gradual decline of economic regulation since the 1960s, and the gradual increase in social welfare regulation over the same period. Fueling much of the economic deregulation movement has been classical economic theory, which holds that regulation imposes a cost burden on firms,...
متن کاملLeveraging Customer Involvement for Fueling Innovation: The Role of Relational and Analytical Information Processing Capabilities
How do IT-enabled capabilities influence firms’ ability to leverage customer involvement and shape the amount of firm innovation? This study theorizes that effective processing and management of customer information flows requires organizations to possess “relational information processing capability” (RIPC) and “analytical information processing capability” (AIPC). Drawing on and extending the...
متن کاملWhy does Low-Luminosity AGN Fueling Remain an Unsolved Problem?
Despite many years of effort, observational studies have not found a strong correlation between the presence of any proposed fueling mechanism and low-luminosity AGN. After a discussion of the mass requirements for fueling, I summarize this observational work and provide a number of hypotheses for why the nature of AGN fueling has remained unresolved. In particular, I stress the potential impor...
متن کاملSocial exchange in collaborative innovation: maker or breaker
Collaborations in innovation work between competitors have become a common practice in the information and communication technology sector (ICT), and substantial investments are made in such collaborations. Significant rationales for these collaborations include the high expectations placed on rapid and front-edge technology development and business exploitation. However, there is often a failu...
متن کاملEquity Financing and Innovation: Is Europe Different from the United States?
During the mid and late 1990s young, high-tech firms in the U.S. experienced a supply shift in both internal and external equity fueling a finance driven boom in corporate R&D. I estimate dynamic R&D regression models for high-tech firms, separately for the U.K. and Continental Europe, and find significant cash flow effects for newly listed firms in both samples, but only the new, high-tech fir...
